We can get a lot of benefits from tube and pipe bender with mandrel. For example, bend a pipe with a mandrel can prevent spring back, collapse. But, there are still some problems that will occur while you bending pipes, even with a mandrel.
Before we ship our mandrel tube bender to our customer, we all proceed the sample bends according to the tube drawing or customer’s sample to ensure all the bending tooling is at its right position. We also suggest you do some sample pipe bends before mass production. There are 2 common tube bending problems that will occur while working with a mandrel tube bender.
Humps at the End of the Bend and Mandrel Ball Humps
- Some customers do not put the mandrel in the right position, so you should check the mandrel position as the first step. Try to adjust the mandrel until the hump disappeared.
- If you adjust the mandrel position, but it does not work. Then you should check the force of the pressure die and the pressure die assist, also you need to ensure the free movement of the pressure die.
- Check if your mandrel ball size is correct for your bending specification.
- Check if the material you are bending is suitable for the type of bend.
Tube Collapse Even Using the Mandrel Tube Bender
- You should check if you are experiencing clamp slip.
- You should ensure if there is enough push assistant for you to set up.
You should always check the mandrel position and if the mandrel balls are enough for your application while using the mandrel tube bender.
